Feminism and Queer Theory
Following her book Sexuality, Violence and Law: Feminist Writings, Alev Özkazanç continues her inquiries into feminist theory and politics in the book you have in your hand. In this book, the author focuses mainly on Judith Butler's work and theoretical inquiries about queer theory, as well as current debates on feminist and queer politics, and tries to clarify her theoretical-political position, which she calls "feminist and queer". While doing this, Özkazanç evaluates Butler and queer within the framework of the concept of radical democracy and hegemony.
The theoretical-political perspective defended in the book is supported by articles and interviews, especially around current debates in Turkey. In this context, the positions taken in the debate on male-female homes opened by Erdogan, the transformation of gender relations and conservatism during the AKP period, the future of familial policies, the fight against sexual harassment and violence, the problem of working mothers encountered in the equality-difference dilemma in current feminist politics, the transformation of the 8 March celebrations. The author, who focuses on various issues such as the debates about the participation of individuals, ends his book by saying "for everyone" and "feminism with everyone".
