- The word science, which I have known and heard since my childhood, immediately reminds me of the saying "roviya fenek". This expression, which has a Turkish meaning such as "devious fox" or "cunning fox", is ultimately related to technique and is a word used in Kurdish. The vast majority of the employees of "Bayt'ul-Hikmet", which was active in Baghdad in the early 800s and was considered as a house of science, were foreigners who came from the "Gundishapur School". During their studies and translations, many Assyrian-Syriac and Greek words were transferred to Arabic. These technical sciences, which are taken from Europe and described as " other sciences - European sciences " , which are kept separate from " madrasa teaching " and " ilm ", are expressed with the Arabic word "fenn/fann". In today's Arabic, the English equivalent of "art" is mostly used to refer to art. The word "science", which passed from Arabic to Turkish, still includes physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics and other technical sciences. It would be appropriate to use the word science in Kurdish in the sense of technical sciences.
