Spinoza in Literature


Those who give meaning to life by believing in something think that they are free as they flow with it. Those who cannot find any meaning in it believe that they are in the grip of Necessity. There are two ways for these: To rebel hopelessly or to choose the autonomy of the wise.

Every person who can look critically at the society he is in, its rules and values, rather than blindly obeying them, and who can break the ties that immobilize the mind and body, will find himself in Spinoza, even if not Spinoza.
