From a Poem
A Unique Poetry Analysis by Turgut Uyar From a Poem
Everything we talk about poetry today revolves around the tradition, possibilities and limits of our literature. We can only make judgments by thinking about what has happened and what has been done. It is some data that eats our thoughts. We can only learn new things about poetry through truly new poetry; Not with what is written on poetry.
The masters of our modern poetry also thought about poetry, examined it and made it the subject of experiments. Turgut Uyar, who wrote this unique book that outlines the horizons of Turkish poetry with a poem from 21 poets from Abdülhak Hâmit to Cemal Kırca, has also produced a kind of poetry anthology or poetry history with a different method.
From a Poem has been one of the favorite books written on our poetry since it was published in 1983. We felt the need to publish a separate edition in order to determine the importance and privileged place of the book and to ensure that it comes to the fore again.
The 21 poets examined through one poem each are: Abdülhak Hâmit, Mehmet Emin Yurdakul, Yahya Kemal Beyatli, Faruk Nafiz Çamlibel, Orhan Seyfi Orhon, Kemalettin Kâmi Kamu, Necip Fazil Kisakürek, Nâzim Hikmet Ran, Ahmet Kutsi Tecer, Mümtaz Zeki Taskin, Bedri Rahmi Eyuboglu. , Ahmet Muhip Diranas, Cahit Sitki Taranci, Muzaffer Tayyip, Rüstü Onur, Orhan Veli Kanik, Oktay Rifat, Sabahattin Kudret Aksal, Cahit Külebi, Metin Eloglu, Cemal Kirca.
