“The fact that no comprehensive study has been written on 'comic literary genres' in Turkish literary criticism creates serious problems in the evaluation of modern and postmodern works based on ironic and parodic structures.

The lack of recognition of the concept and techniques of 'irony' has prevented a comprehensive evaluation of 'ironic writers' such as Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar and Oğuz Atay, and has often led to their misevaluation. The lack of information regarding 'parodic and satirical' structures has caused similar problems, and some 'conceptual tools' to be used in dealing with postmodern techniques, especially those encountered in contemporary novel readings, have been completely ignored in Turkish literary criticism. It would be naive to think that the lack of information and resources creates a problem for criticism alone, and it is also a phenomenon that causes serious impoverishment for writers and readers. "The way to overcome all these difficulties is undoubtedly to write and publish studies that analyze the subject in detail."

In Funny Literary Genres: Parody, Satire and Irony, Oğuz Cebeci offers a holistic definition of these genres by making a comprehensive analysis of comic literary genres in a way that will help us overcome the difficulties mentioned above, and also provides criticism by perfectly exemplifying how theoretical tools can be used in the analysis of works. It is making an intervention that we believe will be "transformative" in terms of our literature...
