Gender - Media Representations
Our daily life is under the influence of the media. Traditional or digital media serve as reference points when organizing our lives. Gender representations in the media are representations that preach to us what kind of man or what kind of woman we should be. Media also plays an important role in the formation, reinforcement and change of individuals' thoughts, behaviors and value judgments. The emphasis that the media's power of influence places on gender representations pushes us to think about these representations. How men, women and LGBTI individuals are represented in the world constructed by the media is the story of how we set out as the question of this compilation.
Even though we tried to compile it through the media, we had to make a selection from the topics of the seemingly endless subject. Depending on the areas of interest, we created the articles of the review within the framework of the relationship we established with the researchers. The purpose of the compilation was to show the distortion of representations that exist in the media environment where competition spreads rapidly and becomes brutal, and how it feeds the status quo or ignores some of them.
