Considered the greatest poet of Persian literature and elevated to the rank of "Hodâ-yi si'r" (God of Poetry, Master of Poetry), Shamseddin Muhammed Hâce Hafiz-i Sirâzi influenced many poets with the rhyming and lyrical poems he left behind and became the guide of poetry and poetry.

In his poems, Hafiz was influenced by Hâcû-yi Kirmânî, Sadî, Selman, Zahîr-i Fâryâbî, Nizâmî-i Gencevî, Fahreddin-i Irakî, and Khayyam. Among these poets, Hâcû added mysticism and wisdom to the ghazal, and Selman added aesthetics. In Gölpinarli's words, Hafiz combined these features in his own ghazals.

Hafiz, who did not like praise very much, did not sing eulogies in order to receive permissibility, except for one or two eulogies. He also praised those he praised in his ghazals. As in all Eastern poets, Greek love is seen in Hafiz's poems.

The praise given to wine in Hafiz's poems is not symbolic, but real. The poet, who lives in a very complex era and has witnessed many oppressions and injustices, resorts to wine and even marijuana to forget his sadness.

He was not an enthusiastic Sufi like Hafiz Senâî, Attâr, and Mevlânâ. Although he has Sufi poems, he generally uses Sufism as a tool. He does not like hypocritical ascetics; He does not neglect to confront them when necessary.

Hafiz Divani is the most widely read Persian work in Turkey after Mesnevi and Gulistan.

Unlike the translations previously published in prose, this book in your hands is the first true-to-life verse translation of Hafiz Divani and also includes the Persian version of the divan.
