Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil-Siyah Bir Adam
Author: Halid Ziya Uşaklıgil, Selim İleri
Published in four volumes , About Art attracted a lot of attention when it was published. In these four volumes, Uşaklıgil's intellectual interests, his ideas about Turkish and world literature, the discussions he opened with his great stylistics, and his approaches to language and literary issues were all together. A Black Man appears before the reader with Selim Ileri's selections and annotations from four volumes...
This time, Selim Ileri invites us to his Usakligil journey.
Halid Ziya first describes the most famous poet of Literature-i Cedide in Kirk Years . He felt the need to go back to Fikret once again with this memoir. Fikret in Kirk Years and the poet "Sis" in About Sanata are both described as "a black man".
Fikret will live on as the poet of "Sis", says Halid Ziya. "Sis", which I read in my senior year of high school and which I had a hard time understanding, fascinated me with its melody. Yahya Kemal replied to this poem because of its devastating curses: “Saying in the Fog”... “That curse…” he says. In my opinion, the opposing approaches of the novelist Ask-i Memnu and the poet "Siste Söylenis" still maintain their currency.
