He wrote his book because the important accumulations of Muslims in Andalusia had not been the subject of any work until then. However, since the written information about this civilization was burned by Christians and the existing sources were written by members of two opposite religions, it became very difficult to distinguish between right and wrong. Despite this, Ziya Pasha prepared this work, which was published in 4 volumes, with the intention of conveying the information given by some impartial European historians and ensuring that the Ottoman people could benefit from the knowledge of this civilization. According to him, Andalusia is a geography that should definitely be investigated, but was far from it in terms of politics and civilization. At the time when the work was published, most writers. It attracted the poet's attention and revived interest in both the history of Andalusian Muslims and their science, culture and civilization, which were a part of the Islamic tradition that lasted for centuries.
