  • The lands of the Mırdasis begin from the borders of the province of Amid (Diyarbekir / Diyarbakır), follow the northern skirts of Karacadağ towards the west, include Adıyaman Gerger, reach the Euphrates River in the west, and go up to the north with the Euphrates river forming the border, including Pütürge, Elazığ and Munzur in the north. The mountains ended in the northeast of the Amid provincial border, with the borders of Muş and Bingöl provinces, and the lands of Lice (Atak) and Silvan, which were the lands of the Zirkis and Suleymani tribe towards the east, forming a border with the Mırdasis. After the Mırdasis came and settled in these lands, they first chose the Piran (Tigris) district as their center. Although the exact date of arrival of the Mırdasis, who spread over this vast land, to the region is not known, historical sources indicate that they have played a role in the history of the region since the end of the ninth century and the beginning of the tenth century.

Mırdasis have been continuing their activities since their arrival in the region. They contributed to the cultural, social and economic development of the region, and the cultural values they created, although ruined in places, have survived to the present day. The Mırdasis left their mark on the history of Amid, as well as the region, in various periods.

Nusret Aydın, in this second study on the history of the region; In order to better understand what has happened in the region until today, it tries to analyze the process from far back, from the Hittites to the 20th century.
