Kızılbaşlığın Tarihi
The History of Kızılbaş is the political and military story of the Kızılbaş Turks, who broke away from Anatolia as a reflection of the political struggle between the Ottomans and the Safavids, tied the service belt of the Safavid Dynasty and were honored with the rank of khanate in Iran. These tribes, whose Turkish identity is beyond doubt, such as Şamlu, Rumlu, Karamanlu, Tekelü, Ustaclu, Zülkadirli, saw their future in Shah Ismail and came to his dervish lodge, thus forming the core of the Safavid army. While they were wearing the crown of victory against the Shaybanids, one of the most important powers of the Sunni Islamic world, they suffered the heaviest defeat in Çaldıran against their mortal enemy, Yavuz Sultan Selim.
The History of Qizilbash, translated from Persian, sheds light on the history of not only the Qizilbash Turks, but also other elements of the Iranian geography such as Lor and Kurds. The author, who is probably a Qizilbash himself, speaks with great praise and admiration about the great Islamic hero Saladin, who saved Jerusalem, the first qibla of Muslims, from the Crusaders. This work also provides invaluable information about the Sunni Akkoyunlus, relatives of Shah Ismail, the founder of the Safavid State, and the Karakoyunlu Turkmens, the majority of whom are Kızılbaş. Likewise, it is a source work that cannot be ignored by those doing research on the Islamic world of the Middle and Modern Ages, thanks to the information it conveys about states such as the Ottomans, Safavids, Shaybanids, Mamluks and Ayyubids. One aspect of the completed work would be incomplete without seeing this book, which includes nearly a thousand historical figures. We have no doubt that the History of Kızılbaşlık will attract the attention of readers who are interested in the subject as well as researchers.
