  • The strengthening of the monarchy and its implementation of centralization policies has resulted in a constant conflict with a wide variety of political bodies based on local and regional levels. The modern state, which emerged with all its institutions after the success of centralization, abolished all these bodies in the regions other than Basque and Navarra, and this gave birth to the anti-centralist resistance of the local and the region, which continues until today. This resistance against the center has continued until today, sometimes on the basis of ethnic demands, sometimes on the basis of protecting local institutions and rights, and sometimes on the basis of achieving social justice.
