- ŞEREFNAME'S PICTURE BOOK IS PUBLISHED
Avesta Publications published a book in which the paintings in Şerefxan Bedlîsî's famous work Şerefname are evaluated.
The book is in the Kurmanci dialect of Kurdish... A book evaluating the paintings in Şerefxan Bedlîsî's famous work Şerefname has been published. In Hunerên Tabloyên Şerefnameyê , written by Ebdurreqib Yusif , the paintings in Bedlîsî's Şerefname are examined in every aspect. Şerefxanê Bedlîsî, the ruler of Bitlis, wrote his work titled Şerefname in Persian in 1597. Şerefname , one of the most important original sources on the history of Kurdish principalities and principalities that has come to light to date, has become one of the classics of the Kurds. During the process of writing the book, Şerefxanê Bedlîsî described some events with miniature paintings and collected these miniatures in the book. Şerefxanê Bedlîsî, who wrote the Kurdish history, made and published 24 miniature paintings that visually revealed the events in the first volume of the book. Bedlisî, who wrote the second volume of the book on Ottoman and Persian history, placed 4 different paintings in the second volume.
Are the pictures his own?
The paintings have been discussed until now as to whether Şerefxanê Bedlîsî made them himself or the work of someone else. However, as Bedlîsî explains in the book, the fact that he took art lessons in his childhood strengthened the opinion that the paintings belonged to him. Historians who evaluate the paintings also express their opinions in this regard. Avesta Publications exhibited the paintings of the aforementioned Bedlisî in Amed in November 2007. The historical miniatures of the exhibition, which was watched with great interest, will be exhibited in many Kurdish provinces. Now he has published a book that deals with these paintings and evaluates them from every aspect. The book written by Ebdurreqib Yusif was published by Jîna Nû Publications in Stockholm in 1991. The work has now been published by Avesta Publications in the Kurmanci dialect with the translation of Ziya Avcı. The paintings evaluated in the book were taken from the first copy of Şerefname, which is in the Bodleian Library of Oxford University . According to Avcı, the translator of the book, 'The paintings were made one hundred percent by Şerefxan Bedlîsî.'
Historical events with paintings...
In Şerefname , when each topic was discussed, a table was made and historical events were explained in these tables. While some of the 28 paintings represent a hunting scene in Hakkari, the Keladizê Occupation, Amediye, Cizîra Botan and Mem û Zîn, Botan Beyini Assembly, Hasankeyf, Eğil Castle, Bitlis Beyini Assembly, the paintings also show the clothing of the period, work tools, animals. It is possible to see war equipment and assemblies. The author of the book, Ebdurreqib Yusif, created a separate section for each painting and evaluated the objects, people and colors in the paintings in each section.
It is also possible to find information about Şerefname 's paintings, Şerefname and Şerefxanê Bedlîsî in the book Hunerên Tabloyên onurnameyê (The Art of Şerefname Paintings) .
