Hunter's Notes
Ivan Sergeyevich Turgenyev (1818-1883): He is one of the 19th century Russian writers whose works were first translated in Europe and in our country. He is remembered as the only Russian writer of his time with a European perspective. Hunter's Notes is Turgenev's first work, which brings together 25 stories he had previously published in Sovremennik (Contemporary) magazine and made him famous.
The work, with its humanist language and stance against slavery, not only played an important role in Russian realist literature, but also contributed greatly to the development of social consciousness. The Hunter's Notes, where the author's extraordinary power of observation peaks in the insatiable nature descriptions that form the main background of all the stories, is a book about the harsh and merciless world of Tsarist Russia. It clearly reveals the reflection of rural life on people, especially the slave peasants.
