I was surprised when my brother said, "We don't know this city we live in, this huge Istanbul." "How come?" I said to myself. The first thing I did was talk to my father. He told me to start by reading Evliya Çelebi's Seyahatname first.
We bought Seyahatname's book about Istanbul and started reading it slowly. I cannot explain the excitement we experienced and the pleasure of the hours spent as if we were chatting with Evliya Çelebi. It was like a dream. It was as if we knocked on Evliya Çelebi's door and said, "Can you tell us about our city?" and Çelebi started to tell us. He talked, we listened, we listened, he told. We went on a dream journey with Evliya Çelebi. We wanted to share this Istanbul journey with you, friends.
