I Kiss Your Eyes - Letters to Turan Erol

Turan Erol, one of the important names of Turkish painting, is as much a friendly person as he is a master painter. Over time, he received letters from many of his friends sharing his problems, joys and sorrows. This book, which we published under the name I Kiss Your Eyes, includes letters written to Turan Erol from Bedri Rahmi to Bilge Karasu, Orhan Peker to Avni Arbas, Nedim Günsür to Neset Günal and many other artists.

These letters, most of which end with the phrase 'I kiss you on your eyes', are particularly important in the Turkish art and culture environment between 1950 and 1970, where groupings such as the D Group, the Independents, the New Group, the Ten Group, the Second New movement in poetry, locality-universality debates, art, It coincides with an active period in which innovative-socialist ideas and East-West polarizations came to the fore in literature and politics.
