Ibn Khaldun's strikingly contemporary approach to historical research has enabled him to become the pre-modern world's leading historical scholar. In his masterpiece, Muqaddimah , he developed a method inspired by Aristotelian concepts that aims to determine the underlying causes of events by evaluating historical evidence.
