Iğdır and Mount Ararat Rebellion Book Description A dark period of our history is coming to light. One of the most important Kurdish rebellions of the 20th century, perhaps the most important, is the Mount Ararat Rebellion that took place between 1926 and 1930. The rebellion continued with minor conflicts until 1932. Leadership changes hands several times during the six-year period. The aims and objectives of the rebellion also change their essence and form. The resistance movement that the famous Kurdish People's Leader Bıro Heski Telli (İbrahim Ağa) started innocently by defying the Law on Exile of Agha and Beys implemented in 1926 soon turns into a rebellion. The Xoybûn (Independence) Society, founded by Kurdish and Armenian Dashnak Party leaders in Lebanon on October 5, 1927, intervened in the rebellion. İhsan Nuri Pasha is assigned by the Society to lead the rebellion and establish the Ağrı Kurdish Republic in the region. While the rebellion movement continues and changes within itself, the hostilities between the tribes of the region continue simultaneously and independently. The rebellion, which occurred at the intersection of the Iran-Soviet Union-Türkiye borders, gained an international dimension with the initiative of Armenian diplomats. Sensing that the situation will get out of control, Mustafa Kemal assigns Salih (Omurtak) Pasha with extraordinary powers, and the rebellion movement is suppressed in a short time. This book offers a new perspective to the Mount Ararat Rebellion movement, where multifaceted and intertwined problems were experienced, and focuses on the memories and documents of the people of the region. It provides a different perspective based on This book, which must be read and kept in hand, is important in that it reveals the dimensions of the Kurdish Question that we do not know about, and on the other hand, it explains the difficulties faced by the Young Republic.
