
İntibah
Namık Kemal expresses his views on the novel in various articles. In the foreword ( Celal Mukaddimesi ) he wrote to his theater play Celaleddin Harzemşah, he criticizes our old stories by comparing them with the novel. Namık Kemal is looking for three things in the novel: The possibility of the event taking place; Basing and describing the subject on morals, customs, emotions and possibilities.
Intibah is organized in 23 chapters. Each chapter begins with a couplet chosen from divan literature in accordance with its subject. The description of spring in the first section resembles the nasib part of the odes. Subsequently, Namık Kemal describes Çamlıca. This section is important in terms of including both description and viewing places into our literature. Ali Bey's story begins here...
