Orhan Pamuk's new book, The Innocence of Memories, which will be released to bookstores this Friday, is a movie book. The book contains the texts, speeches and selected frames from the film that Pamuk wrote for this film.

In 2012, British director Grant Gee and Orhan Pamuk decided to work on a documentary covering the Museum of Innocence, Istanbul and Pamuk's world. The result was a documentary film, The Innocence of Memories, which was highly praised by critics at the 72nd Venice Film Festival. ?
"The Innocence of Memories", which will be released in cinemas in Turkey on March 25, is also shown in cinemas in England and other European countries... Pamuk developed a hero from the novel for this film.

"My name is Ayla, I was Füsun's friend. I lived next door to her for eleven years..."

In the movie "The Innocence of Memories", which he prepared together with the British documentary film director Grant Gee, Orhan Pamuk added sections that re-look at the love story of Kemal and Füsun in the novel The Museum of Innocence, through the eyes of Füsun's friend Ayla.

Pamuk added the script, as well as the script, to the book Innocence of Memories, which he prepared based on this film, and also included the text of the interview that the author and his friend Emre Ayvaz had with him for the film, which he turned into an original narrative called "Novel, Museum, Film". The book also includes images selected by Orhan Pamuk and Grant Gee (from the film).

The public interview given by Pamuk and Gee in honor of the first screening of the film in Istanbul, which constitutes the last part of the book, addresses the processes of creation of literature and cinema, the similarity of our lives, and addresses cinema enthusiasts as well as literature.

Pamuk's novel, The Museum of Innocence, published in 2008, tells the story of the unforgettable and unfortunate love between the wealthy businessman Kemal and his distant relative, poor Füsun, in Istanbul between 1975 and 1984. The Museum of Innocence is a place where we witness this unforgettable love and the traces of daily life in Istanbul, where words turn into objects.

Orhan Pamuk: "If you live in a city continuously for 62 years, as I did, everything in the city, its monuments, buildings, landscapes, walls, trees, day and night, cats and dogs, people on the street, sidewalks, squares, everything turns into a sign that refers to your memories."
