Uluslararası Yargı
The number of institutions that can be described as "international courts" has increased rapidly in recent times.
The number of international courts, known by various names, operating in a wide range of fields from criminal law to trade, from human rights to sports, has exceeded 30. When boards such as arbitral tribunals that perform "judicial-like" functions are added to this, the number increases much more.
Some mistakes can be made regarding the names and powers of international courts. For example, an international "criminal" court can be confused with a "human rights" court, and an expectation can be created that the human rights court will impose punishment.
Prof. Dr. Rona Aybay has written basic information that will help you avoid these mistakes...
Rona Aybay was a member of the Council of Europe Commission on Combating Racism and Intolerance and the OSCE commission tasked with examining human rights violations in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He served as an international judge elected by the Council of Europe at the Court of Human Rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina from its establishment in 1996 until its closure in 2003. Aybay was elected as a member of the 11-member "Wise Persons Group" created by the Council of Europe in order to increase the effectiveness of the European Court of Human Rights.
