Rüyaların Yorumu
In this important work, Freud shows that even the most complex dreams can be easily interpreted. While doing this, he claims that, in Schiller's words, "logic should give up the guard it keeps in front of the doors", that is, it is not difficult for a person to observe himself without making any criticism.
In his book, Freud states that a dream is the realization of a desire. It deals with the relationship between dreams and waking life, what turns into dream materials and what their sources are, why we forget our dreams, the effects of dreams on our psychology, and the relationship between dreams and mental illnesses. While explaining what kind of symbolizations, displacements and distortions we use to make our dreams unrecognizable even ourselves, he gives examples from his own psychoanalytic studies.
The Interpretation of Dreams, which has been among the classics of scientific literature for many years, is the work that Freud thought would attract the most attention. As he stated in one of his letters, in the years when psychoanalysis began to develop, there was a work that he clung to "like a rock hit by waves".
