Prof. Dr. Mustafa Sibaî (d. 1964)
Seeing socialism as one of the common messages of all prophets and 'a part of the Islamic creed', Sibai placed this idea at the center of the intellectual and political struggle. According to Sibaî, Hz. Muhammad's circumcision is history's first and most magnificent attempt at socialism.

Mustafa Sibaî was born in 1915 in Homs, Syria. His father was one of those who fought against the French. He graduated from high school in 1930 and went to Egypt to continue his education and entered Al-Azhar. After graduating from Kulliyyetü Usuliddin, he completed his doctorate on 'The Place of the Sunnah in Tesrî'.

In 1950, he became a professor at the Sam University Faculty of Law. He pioneered the establishment of a faculty of theology at the same university and was appointed as the first dean of this faculty.

He was elected as a member of the Constituent Assembly between 1949-54. He is one of the nine people who prepared the Syrian Constitution. When the Palestinian war broke out, he traveled throughout the Syrian lands and encouraged the people to fight. He gained widespread fame among the public and intellectuals.

He published the newspaper 'al-Menâr' in 1947 and the magazine 'el-Muslimûn' in the same year. In 1958, he determined the name of this magazine as 'Hadâretü'l-Islam'. He made great efforts for the material and moral development of the workers. He opened night schools for them. He was extremely close to the workers. He would frequently go to villages, travel all over Syria, personally identify the problems and needs of the people and bring them to the Parliament.

He continued to give lectures at the university until the last days of his life. After his death, revolutions were held in Pakistan, Syria, Lebanon and Egypt; Contemporary Islamic thinkers such as Hasan Nedvi, Muhammed Abu Zehre, Mawdudi, Mustafa Zerka and Malik bin Nebi published statements about its various aspects.

Mustafa Sibaî has produced more than twenty works; the most important are:

4. Religion and State from the Perspective of Islam,
5. War and Peace Provisions in Islam
