Istanbul Was An Evening in May Book Description This time, I want to go back to the earliest times and write about the oldest ones. Who knows what day it was in the 1960s? Even though I knew almost nothing about history, art, architecture and decoration, the tiles of the mosque left a dream-like effect amidst the lights reflecting from the dome windows. It was the first time I saw so much glaze of tile, pomegranate red, green and endless blue that can only attain such glaze shine in tiles. I think Selim İleri has embraced Istanbul with its houses, streets, people, past and present, from its kitchen to its sabbath, in the field of literature in which he has been working for forty years, with every work of his. He is a valuable Istanbul writer who has become more proficient. - İnci Enginün - Selim İleri adds another work to his memory of Istanbul
