In this book, Ebru Deniz Ozan examines the role played by the capital class in the process leading to the September 12 Coup and the close relationship between the change in the state form as a result of this coup and the demands constantly expressed by various segments of the capital throughout the 1970s. In an extremely meticulous and detailed study, it reveals how the capital class tried to find a solution to the "hegemony crisis" that emerged when the economic crisis experienced in all capitalist countries in the early 1970s combined with a political crisis in Turkey, of which the rising class struggle was one of the main factors.

It is an extremely stimulating work in a period when coups are tried to be explained only by the covert activities of some malicious generals nestled within the army and the "deep state", and the concept of "coercive state tradition" is often placed at the center of historical analysis.

Ebru Deniz Ozan; He graduated from METU Department of Political Science and Public Administration in 1998. In the same department, he completed his master's thesis addressing the state-civil society relationship from the perspective of Antonio Gramsci and the realistic relational approach. He received his doctorate degree from Ankara University, Department of Public Administration and Political Science, with his thesis titled "Crisis, Classes and State: Capital Class in Turkey, 1977-1980". He is currently a lecturer at Dumlupınar University, Department of Political Science and International Relations.
