Japanese Turanism

Japanese Turanism Book Description Turanist movements, which emerged in Hungary and Turkey since the second half of the 19th century, spread to Japan after the First World War. This movement, which was initiated by Hungarian Turanist Barathosi Balogh Benedek and the first Japanese Turanist Imaoka Juichiro in the early 1920s, although it did not arouse the expected interest in Japanese society and political circles at first, it managed to find echo in wider circles with the influence of Japanese imperialism, which increased its violence after the 1931 Manchuria Incident. Turanism became a political idea that was used by the politicians of the period to spread Japanese influence, especially in the Central Eurasian Geography. In this study, Japanese Turanism was examined in detail by going to primary sources and its place within the Great Asianist ideology, which was the political goal of the Great Japanese Empire before the Second World War, was tried to be positioned. We hope that the projections of an ideology we know well in Turkey on the other side of Asia will fill a gap in our history literature.
