Just in time, I won't be able to
A house of words: I won't lose my tongue even in my dreams
Hewlêr, 17 Gulan (AKnews) – Avesta Publications, which continues its publishing life in Istanbul and is known for its Kurdish poetry, story and novel books, continues its contribution to the Kurdish language with the translation of a novel. Most recently, he translated Sêchu Sende's book "Made in Galicia" into Kurdish. It was published on the "Galicia Literature Day", two days after the "Kurdish Language Festival". The book was translated by 35 Kurdish figures in order to draw attention to the situation of the Kurdish language and to oppose the oppression and assimilation policy on the Kurdish language. Three volumes of the book were published together, with an edition of 3 thousand copies.
Avesta Publishing House Manager Abdullah Keskin, regarding the publication of the book, said, “The interest of Kurdish readers in this book will be like a survey for us. We took into account all the demands and criteria of the Kurdish reader as much as we could understand. The strength of the bond between the reader and the bookstore encouraged us. That's why we printed more books than can be found in translations. We say to the readers, come and add your words to our words. Let's build this house of words together. "Let's build a country of words in a land without words," he said.
In the foreword written by the publishing house regarding the publication of the book, it is stated that “The purpose of this book is not to be included in the Guinness Book of Records. But when a good research is done, it will be seen that there is no other example of this kind. This is the unique and inspiring aspect of the Kurdish cultural tradition. Writing in Kurdish is essentially a psychological problem, and the important thing is not translations or original books. "As we will see in the book, the feeling of self-deprecation is not specific only to Kurds, but to all oppressed peoples and segments."
The book was translated into Kurdish by 35 Kurdish personalities. This is another interesting aspect of the book. The translators are: Fahriye Adsay, Mehmet Aktaş, Ramazan Alan, Arjen Ari, Hêja Bağdu, Ruken Bağdu Keskin, Ferhad Brusk, Fevzi Bilge, Selahattin Bulut, Şükran Çaçan, Süleyman Demir, Şerif Derince, Mehmet Dicle, Murat Dıldar, Receb Dıldar, Ismail Dindar, Lorin S. Author's foreword for the Kurdish edition
“Since our words give us life, we must throw them to the wind and announce them to the whole world. Our words must enter all private and public places, occupying our daily and collective life, even our dreams. Our words must appear and occupy computer screens, walls, t-shirts, flyers, textbooks and legal texts.
"This book also wants to be a book of humor. Because the presence of humor is sometimes an attitude against madness. Humor saves a person from pain and tragedy, and with it a person can handle his problems beautifully...
'Made in Galicia' is the first to be fully translated into a language belonging to the same family. This language has been captured throughout history and deprived of freedom. With this I understand that we are not alone and millions of people in this universe are fighting against these wrongs. The struggle to protect the language of our own people... We have the brotherhood of languages under oppression and oppression...
There are 5000 km between Kurdistan and Galicia, but the distance between Kurdistan and Galicia seems like one step closer. There are many countries listed between us on the map, but we are neighbors. That's why I say, Galicia and Kurdistan are brothers.”
