Koçgiri with Documents: Education and Training and Improvement of Kurdish Tribes 1830 - 1862 - Arrests - Deaths - Sur Book Description In 1860, 55 Koçgiri headmen and leaders stated in their petition for compassionate pardon that the Koçgiri people in exile in Istanbul did not know Turkish with the following words: «... some of them were guilty together. If the language was complicated, since the martyrs were a tribe and were not capable of language, they were imprisoned along with the bandits and placed in the Naval Shipyard. "... although some of them were caught and handed over with the bandits as innocent, they were also from the mentioned tribe [Koçgiri] and could not speak because they were not able to speak the language.
