FILE: History of Kurdish-Greek Relations
The file, edited by Murat Issı, begins with Issı's framework article examining the important moments and events in the history of Kurdish-Greek relations from ancient times to the present. Issı, who is a guest lecturer at Koya University, also had an interview with Andonis Deriziotis, a faculty member of the Department of Turcology at the National and Kapodistriako University of Athens. The interview points out the weakness of Kurdish studies in Greece and the rather indirect nature of information about Kurds and Kurdistan. The article by writer and journalist Cemîl Tûran Bazîdî, who has been living in Greece since 1984 and is well-known in the political and intellectual circles of Greece, deals with how Kurds and the Kurdish issue are handled in the Greek media and Kurdish journalists in the Greek media.
On the occasion of the Kurdish-Greek relations file, the 43rd issue of Kurdish History also hosts a principle. The article by Serwat Raşid, one of the Southern Kurds who continues his studies in Greece, describing his studies in philosophy, is the first work published in the Sorani dialect and Arabic letters in Kurdish History. The last article in the file is on Xenophon's Anabasis. Bahoz Şavata discusses the importance of this well-known text by Xenephon for Kurdish history.
As for articles outside the file... First of all, we have an article that is a continuation of the Bedirhaniler file in the last issue. Salih Akın's Kurdish article examines the important contribution of the Bedirhanids to the process of standardizing Kurmanji and writing it in the Latin alphabet. The article titled "Kurds" translated from Russian by İsmet Konak is a good source to understand how the Kurds were viewed by the Russians in the mid-19 century. The article was published in the January 16, 1854 issue of the newspaper Kavkaz, published by the Tsarist administration. The 43rd issue also includes an article by Tarık Ziya Ekinci, one of the important figures of Kurdish politics after 1960. Ekinci's article is on the Lice Beys. Nasruddewle Mardux's study on how the term Kurdistan has been used throughout history, the first part of which we published in the previous issue, continues in this issue. The last part of the article is left for the next issue. Finally, this issue includes a correction of İbrahim Gürbüz's article "Kolektîfa Sînema ya Mesopotamia ve Kurdish Documentaries" published in the 40th issue.
