Kürt Edebiyatı
This study consists of the "Kurdish Literature" themed issue of the magazine "Études Kurdes", which has been published periodically by the Paris Kurdish Institute since 2000.
In his review titled " Kurdish Literature" , Joyce Blau reveals a panorama of Kurdish literature in the four parts of Kurdistan and the diaspora, starting from the first written works, from Gurani literature and classical literature to the present day. “ The origins of Kurdish literature are dark. Not only is nothing known about the pre-Islamic culture of the Kurds, it is also a mystery that many texts have disappeared in the storm of incessant conflicts that have occurred and continue to occur in the Kurdish lands. The first texts that have come down to us, which are unquestionably of Kurdish origin, were written using the Arabic-Persian alphabet. For a long time, this literature remained accessible only to urban dwellers, and the settled or nomadic peasants and shepherds who constitute the vast majority of Kurds gave priority to oral literature. The number of texts is small and the majority of them are inaccessible. “The rare information that has come down to us about the lives of the poets is contradictory,” says Blau.
