Mehrdad R. Izady is a lecturer at the Faculty of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at Harvard University. Izady, who has a bachelor's degree in History, Political Sciences and Geography, has a master's degree in International Events, Geography and Middle East Studies. He received his doctorate on Middle Eastern Studies at Colombia University. He has given numerous conferences to date. Izady has been heard as an expert twice in the subcommittees of the US Congress on Kurds. He has published many articles in Kurdish Times and The Middle East Journal. He has also contributed to the Encyclopedia of Asian History and published maps showing the distribution of the Kurds .
