The Turkish army engaged in more than fifteen armed conflicts in Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia from 1925 to 1938. After 1980, Kurds' political actions and armed conflicts increased. This increase has an external dimension as well as an internal one. The Turkish army has undertaken intense military actions to suppress and eliminate Kurdish nationalist and armed guerrilla groups. More than 30 thousand martyrs were lost on this road. It can be said that certain forms of politics were first implemented against the Kurds in 1925, and nationalist and ideological thoughts and attitudes continue to play an important role in Turkey's political decisions, even more than eighty years after the Sheikh Said Rebellion.
