French writer Victor Hugo (1802-1885, ends the preface of his giant novel Les Misérables as follows: 'As long as poverty and ignorance continue to dominate the world, such books may not be considered unnecessary.' Victor Hugo was an ardent patriot. He never hesitated to engage in political fights in the name of his country's interests. He never shied away from fights. That's why he stayed in exile for twenty years. These years of exile were his most productive period, both in terms of poetry and novels.
