Şimşek
Peyami Safa's novel Şimşek, in which he explores the depths of the human soul, perfectly shows the concrete effect of spiritual tensions on the body. In a large and old mansion in Bağlarbaşı, where there is no shortage of guests even for a day, Müfid has always been under the same roof with his uncle Sacid since his childhood. Müfid has just married Pervin, one of his uncle's friends. Although Pervin, who had a relationship with Sacid before marriage, tried to end the relationship after marriage, Sacid always found ways to persuade her. Müfid suspects that there may be a secret relationship between his uncle and his wife and wants to leave the mansion with his wife as a remedy, but he cannot find the support he expected from Pervin. As a result of the events he encountered and the implications of his circle of friends, Müfid leaves a farewell letter and moves to his aunt's house in Çengelköy. Despite all his doubts and the truths he secretly believes in, Müfid, who cannot give up his love for his wife and already has a weak body, falls into bed because of his longing for Pervin. However, he later allows his wife, whose longing he cannot stand, to come to visit him. He even begins to recover a little with the strength he gets from Pervin's presence. But that day, he encounters a terrible sight in the patient's room filled with lightning.
