Mai and Black - Original Full Text
Mâî and Black, one of the masterpieces of Halit Ziya Usakligil and Turkish literature, reaches the reader for the first time with its complete original edition! With N. Ahmet Özalp's competent transcription and meticulous comparison, Everest Publications continues to publish the works of this great author...
Halit Ziya remains in touch as a writer with Mâî and Black, which he published as a book after his serialization in Servet-i Fünûn magazine. , reworks the text in each subsequent edition and makes some changes in the language and expression of the work. He makes additions and deletions in the text, changes the words, and makes a kind of simplification by partially solving long compositions made according to Persian rules. We came to the conclusion that the prints (1896, 1900, 1914) could be prepared by comparing all the prints made before the alphabet change - leaving aside the summary edition made in 1928 - and we did so. The comparative text offers the opportunity to read it again in its original form after more than a hundred years. In addition, it allows us to see how the author worked on his work over the years and what changes he made depending on social, political and cultural changes.
