Medieval European History
After the collapse of the Roman Empire, one of the largest empires in history, in the 5th century, Europe experienced the period defined as the Middle Ages for 1000 years (500-1500 AD). The first half of this millennium bore the mark of Roman civilization.6-11. Europe experienced the real Feudal Age by becoming completely introverted between the 12th and 15th centuries. Starting from the 11th century, it broke its own shell and spread out of Europe. Although the Crusades are generally known as campaigns against the Islamic world, they actually appear as population movements ranging from pagans in the north to heretical sects. But it is possible to see the focus of these expeditions as attacks on the Islamic and Turkish world in a line extending from Spain to Anatolia.
The long series of relations with the East caused major changes in mentality in the West. Therefore, the basis of the change that shaped today's Europe, or the last great move of humanity that we call Western Civilization today, began to take shape to a large extent in the Middle Ages. After the Crusades, Europe explored the world for the same purpose, but this time in a different way, and continues its long march today. With this difference, the West, which has left no place untouched on earth today, has extended its march to space.
