Melayê Cizîrî Portrait of a Sufi Between Reality and Metaphor

Melayê Cizîrî is not only a poet, the author of Divân, which is considered a masterpiece in Kurdish literature, but also a Sufi thinker who is well-versed in many disciplines of Islamic thought. In his divan, he touched upon the Islamic schools of thought and the important issues of these schools, especially on theoretical matters. In this context, his interest in the peripatetic, illuminating and Sufi tendencies of Islamic philosophy draws attention. His line, which focuses on Sufi philosophy and deals with other disciplines from a Sufi perspective, reflects the general character of 17th century Islamic thought. On the other hand, Mela also covered all the steps of a Sufi's experience of truth in his divan. At the same time, he brought to the attention of the reader the basic issues of Sufi experience such as truth-metaphor, light, manifestation, knowledge, human and love.
The present work deals with Mela's intellectual and mystical accumulation on the path of truth with philosophical analysis and presents Mela to the attention of academic circles.
