Memories from the War Years
This work consists of two separate texts. First text; These are the memoirs of a retired police officer named Muharrem Galip, who immigrated from Greece to Turkey. Undoubtedly, there are many memoirs that have never been published until now, and perhaps have never been read by anyone other than the writer. However, every written memory has historical and social value. Therefore, every memory unearthed helps to eliminate some historically unknown and unaware deficiencies. Muharrem Galip's memoirs are one of them. Muharrem Galip, who lived through the Balkan Wars, the First World War and the War of National Independence before and after, states that he wrote these memoirs for his relatives to read. However, what he wrote are memoirs that can attract the attention of not only his relatives, but also everyone, and can take all readers back to the days in which he lived. He was also the spoiled son of a father with unlimited wealth, and an expatriate who tried to commit suicide after looking for a job in Istanbul for days and not being able to find one...
Anyone who reaches out to his feelings and looks at the world from his perspective experiences the same troubles that he does. In his memories, one sometimes sees himself as one of the sons of a Balkan commander who keeps watch at night, and sometimes as a fugitive trying to take shelter left and right to avoid being caught by Greek gangs... The second text in the study is; It consists of interviews conducted with veterans of the National War of Independence at various times.
