Minos - Epinomis
Plato is undoubtedly one of the most important and influential philosophers in the history of thought. He contributed to the institutionalization of philosophy and the formation of the written tradition in philosophy, and was the initiator of the idealist philosophy tradition that would determine the entire medieval thought with its two-world metaphysics. Plato, who is also important in terms of his influence on Christian Medieval philosophy and Islamic thought, addressed all the problems discussed throughout the history of thought hundreds of years ago and built the first major philosophical system.
Minos, named after the legendary Cretan King who personally prepared the laws of his country, takes place between Socrates and an unnamed student. The dialogue, which begins with Socrates' question of what law is, turns into a small criticism of the best-known law makers of Antiquity, especially King Minos, while trying to answer the question of who can prepare the best laws for people.
The Epinomis dialogue, which discusses what wisdom is and the ways in which wisdom can be achieved, takes place between the Cretan Kleinias, the Lacedaemonian Megillos and an Athenian. One of the unique aspects of the dialogue is that Socrates' name is not mentioned among the speakers and the events are not narrated from his perspective.
