Orta Doğu'da Modernleşme ve İslami Hareketler

Islamic movements in Turkey are not seen as schemes to exploit the "ignorant" and "vulnerable" segments of the society, as in the 1960s; It has begun to be addressed in terms of the intellectual tendencies and preferences of the segments that intellectuals like to call "dynamic forces". Islamic movements are carried by segments of society who are university/college students or graduates, who generally come from schools that provide secular education, who belong to the urban/middle class in terms of their present and future, even if they are of rural origin, and who are candidates to hold important positions in society in the future. These people are not from those who "have an interest in returning to the old order". They are not marginalized, nor are they from social outcasts. However, sociology literature tells us that these groups will not join Islamic movements. Despite sociological generalizations, the fact that these groups continue to take part in Islamic movements shows that the phenomenon should be examined from a different perspective and with a closer/internal view.
