Music accompanies the expression of joy, happiness, pain and sadness and their remembrance, and in this respect, it is an integral part of social life and plays an important role in the transmission of culture. In societies and periods where speech was dominant, people and groups who took on this task always emerged; The characteristics and expression styles of these people or groups have become a tradition within the social structure and cultural conditions. Mıtırbs and mitrıp performing in this study are considered as such a tradition specific to Mardin and its surroundings (Tûr-Abdin). Mıtırbs are performed in times when life continues in villages far away from each other and communication facilities such as television and radio are absent or limited. They served as the cultural memory of the society with the heroic stories they told about the past in the meetings called civat in the village rooms accompanied by their people, and they became the creators and maintainers of a tradition that ensures the reproduction of the identity of both themselves and the society in which they live. In addition to the diloks and stranes they played and sang at weddings for entertainment purposes, accompanied by the kemanches that are identified with them, the poems that are heroic stories that they played and sang in village rooms, and the mitırbs that keep the social memory alive, enabled the emergence of another form of expression, mitrıp, among the Kurds. Today, they continue this traditional form of expression in various ways.
