My Last Years
This book, which covers the writings of Albert Einstein, one of the greatest and most influential minds in history, between 1934 and 1950, addresses issues that are still debated and unresolved today. Our world, where wars continue and hunger and poverty are rampant, is not much different from Einstein's world. The negative effects of interstate competition, which Einstein insisted on, still continue. Einstein thought deeply about the most important issues of our age, from racism to world peace, from the relationship between science and religion to education and morality, from relativity and quantum physics to socialism. He discusses these issues with the meticulousness of a scientist and establishes his arguments in a clear, clear style. While revealing his political worldview in his article titled "Why Socialism", he describes the real purpose of socialism as transcending the predatory phase of human development and moving beyond it.
The topics Einstein deals with in My Last Years are not limited to social and philosophical issues. There are also very valuable discussions of classical mechanics, Newtonian physics, relativity and quantum physics.
