My Oedipus Complex

The poor, introverted Irish countryside, under the rule of priests, and the lonely and sad characters born into it, who are struggling with independence after the civil war. My Oedipus Complex is a selection of stories. Frank O'Connor, who has contributed to the rise of Irish literature with his literary works and critical writings as well as his translations, also brings together the local with the universal in his stories, in which he transcribes the Irish oral tradition and makes it permanent.

Different periods of the life of O'Connor, who wrote most of his works inspired by his own life, are brought together in this selection in parallel with the development periods of Ireland. The stories, marked by children's keen observation skills, mirror both the author's own life and Irish culture and history.
