- In the Kurdish national democratic struggle, the tradition of memoir writing is quite weak. Keeping a diary is almost non-existent. There has been much suffering, great resistance and heroism, but unfortunately, except for a few attempts, what happened has not been documented in writing.
Until now, the people in our geography who have experienced tragedies, betrayals, resistance and sacrifices, namely Armenians, Greeks, Assyrians, Yazidis, Kurds, etc. They responded with resistance, risking unimaginable massacres in order to keep themselves alive, against the dominant colonialism, whose belongings were deemed "non-existent", implemented social projects and genocide policies, tricks and incomprehensible methods and directions. These resistances have not been adequately evaluated in an intellectual medium until now. These studies; At a stage when we were just entering the 21st century, it was obvious that it would not be possible to achieve a healthy past memory and analysis without resorting to the testimonies that we need inestimably. Aside from what we "lament" over what we lost under all the colonial and genocide conditions, what we could not protect and what we lost to the "destructive" politics, what we were able to save, belatedly, in the last few years; The fact that we are happy to present it to the Kurdish, Turkish and all research world is a source of consolation and hope for us in the face of all that has happened.
Because; The book "My Memoirs" by Suleymaniyeli Refik Hilmi, one of the advisors of Sheikh Mahmudê Berzencî and a member of the 1921 Sulaymaniyah Government Cabinet and one of the doyens of the first Kurdish organization with a modern content in the 1930s and 1940s, is for illuminating the period of the Kurdish movement in the 1910s and 1930s. It is an important documentary.
The book "Kurdish National Movements and Armenian-Kurdish Relations from the 15th Century to the Present" by Garo Sasuni, one of the rare figures and politicians of the Middle East in the 1890-1930s, published by Med Publications in Istanbul, is important and eye-opening.
General İhsan Nuri Pasha from Cibran, one of the leaders of the Mount Ararat Rebellion, writes about the resistance they experienced in Ağrı between 1926 and 1930 in his memoir titled "Mount Ararat Rebellion" and refreshes and expands our historical horizons with his evaluations.
Dr.Nureddin Zaza; By collecting his experiences between the 1940s and 1970s in his book "My Life as a Kurd", he makes us memorized about Kurdistan in general and Southern Kurdistan in particular. Because Dr. Nureddin Zaza; He is the founder and first secretary of KDP-Syria. The fact that he was a leader in the organization of the European Kurdish Student Movement, which later laid the groundwork for many associations and institutes in Europe, makes the work in question very important.
What General Mella Mistefa Barzani told various newspapers and the memories of his close fighting friends and his children, especially Masoud Barzani, who shared his life, was written and narrated; The work "Barzani in the Kurdish Freedom Struggle" is an important documentary. Kadri Cemil Pasha's "Doza Kurdistan", Ekrem Cemil Pasha's "My Concise Life", Salih Bedirhan's "My Memoir" and Musa Anter's "My Memoir 1-2" books are equally important works.
VMNuri Dersimi's books "My Memoirs" and "Dersim in the History of Kurdistan", which have also been published countless times, are also important memorial and historical documents.
In his "Autobiography", Abdurrezak Bedirhan's book, which consists of two long narrative memoir articles containing both the "Bedirxanis" and his own struggle from "Istanbul to Tbilisi, from Tbilisi to Botan" in the years 1910-1916, covers the borders of the Kurdish national struggle. It is of inestimable value because it reveals a different side of himself that is unknown to him.
