This book addresses some of the most pressing issues facing the Turkish political order, particularly political Islam and Kurdish and Turkish nationalism. The authors examine the ways of thinking of the main political actors in Turkey in order to increase our understanding of the debates regarding the secularist character of the Republic of Turkey and the long-standing Kurdish issue in Turkey.
Original contributions from respected academics in the field of Turkish and Kurdish studies offer us many insights into Turkey's social and political structure by examining Turkey's secular order, the ruling AKP government, the Kurdistan Workers' Party, and the European Union institutions. Although the focus of this book is the social actors of the policies followed in Turkey today, the thoughts they have and the strategies they use, historical dimensions are also included in the analyses. Thanks to this approach, the book makes a significant contribution to the deepening research on policy-making in today's world.
