Milliyetçilik Din ve Kürtler
Nationalism Religion and Kurds Book Description
Nationalism has had an intense interaction with religion since its birth. While in some societies the effect of religion on nationalism was negative, in some societies religion and nationalism nourished each other. The subject of the study is to examine the interaction of nationalism with religion from the perspective of Kurds, from its birth to the present day. As Ernest Gellner emphasizes, although it plays a negative role in the formation of national identity in some countries - for example, in the Kurds - Islam has generally fulfilled a positive function in the formation of identity. In this regard, Prof. William F. Tucker also emphasized that sheikhs played a very important role in Kurdish nationalism and Kurdish movements, and emphasized that for Kurds, nationalism and religion have been intertwined from the beginning.
The most important result in Kurdish history is the social leadership of the sect sheikhs, which combines national and religious sensitivities. While these sheikhs are religious leaders, they are also national leaders for the Kurds.
As a result, when we remove the madrasahs, sects, sheikhs, mullahs and jurists (feqi) from Kurdish history, there will be no visible legacy left in the sociological, national, historical, literary and cultural sense, with a few exceptions. The main vein of Kurdish history and culture came to life through these values, especially Naqshbandi.
