It is believed that the human race was created in Northern Kurdistan. When the Garden of Eden in the Torah is compared with the relevant chapter in the Bible, and the topographic features and climate of the region are taken into consideration, it is concluded that the human race emerged here. There is one Garden of Eden in the second chapter of the Torah. This garden is on the edge of a "river". The river is divided into four branches, these are; Pison, Gihon, Hiddekel and Euphrates. Three of these four branches originate in the Van province of Northern Kurdistan and are still known by similar names today.
