Nazım Hikmet ve Kürtler
It can be said that the left wing is saying 'don't be possessive'. Nazım Hikmet is one of the most abused people. The communist characterization that prevailed during Nazım's lifetime became a rule after Nazım's death and was asked by all progressive, 'left' and revolutionary circles "who is the most consistent?" It was continued with mutual claims and showdowns. So much so. have different ideological and political lines; Even circles that made the most extreme characterizations about each other and who had never come together in the last thirty-five to forty years of political process, were able to come to the same conclusion when it came to Nazım. This unique partnership of those who competed on Nazım's communism is remarkable!
Despite the "communist Nazım" characterization and insistence that dominates the left-progressive-revolutionary side, the poet and politician Nazım Hikmet does not deserve this qualification. Although he was influenced by some communist views and even though he had some communist views, he could not get out of the petty bourgeois circle. It was influenced by the strong wind of socialism-communism and acquired some communist-revolutionary features. However, these communist-revolutionary features did not represent his progressive-intellectual side, but remained as secondary communist-revolutionary elements-elements in his personality, and these did not become dominant until the moment of his death.
It is expected and necessary for Turkish revolutionaries to take a stance on Nazım Hikmet's attitude towards the Kurds and to continue to fight against social chauvinist views. However, no such development has occurred so far. When it comes to the Kurdish national issue. Considering the dominance of political circles that still 'govern' with Nazım's attitude even today and the siege of Turkish intellectuals following Nazım's footsteps, we do not really have much expectations...
