New Socialism and New Socialist Education
In 1997, I wrote about the coming and rise of New Liberalism (Paradigms War and Türkiye in Chaos, System Publishing). In 2014, I wrote about the collapse of New Liberalism and its withdrawal from the scene (The War of Paradigms and the Fifth Wave, Image). Naturally, readers wondered: So what's replacing New Liberalism? The answer to the question was partially given in "The War of Paradigms and the Fifth Wave"; but the question deserved much more detailed study. To give a brief hint, a "New Socialist" world view is about to emerge onto the stage left by New Liberalism.
In this book, the outlines of both the New Liberalism that is on its way and the New Socialist order that is expected to come on the horizon are defined. The New Socialist order is the antithesis of the Liberal Capitalist order. In general terms, it is a populist, socialist, social justice, egalitarian, sharing and productive order. Liberalism and the "new" of Liberalism are essentially in textural relations with right-wing political ideology. For this reason, it strongly fosters religious orientation and conservative values, either explicitly or implicitly. The "Socialist" (Social Statist) order, which is in a textural relationship with the Social Democrat, Left and Socialist ideology, nourishes secular and modern values. For this reason, it can be said that religion-based conservative values, which became stronger after the 1980s and occupied the stage, are also on the way out. In this sense, New Socialism, the order of the future, will also trigger the rise of secular and modern values. Therefore, say hello to a new "Enlightenment".
In this book, which focuses on understanding the process of replacement of the New Liberalism and the New Socialist order; The culture, economy, values, social order and symbols of those who leave and those who come are among the topics discussed. Various aspects of "education", which is arguably the most unsuccessful area of the 13-year AKP government, is the second main subject of the book.
