Nicaragua, the Country on My Skin - Memories of Love and War
In 1979, the Nicaraguan revolution was welcomed with hope and joy by revolutionaries all over the world. This uprising, called the "Children's Revolution" because its leadership included well-educated young people from the middle class, changed the familiar patterns of previous revolutions in many aspects. After the takeover of power, he resisted all kinds of pressures carried out with the secret and open support of the USA for twelve years. Poet Gioconda Belli, the daughter of a wealthy family, rebelled against the injustice in her country and joined the revolution. He says the following about his memoirs, in which he candidly conveys his loves, experiences and inner conflicts: "I wrote all these to defend the kind of happiness that makes life - and even death - valuable in these days when we are preached not to stick to any values, when we easily get frustrated, lose our faith and deny our dreams."
